On first launch, Toss or Keep asks for permission to see your photos and screenshots. That access is used only to find and manage screenshots on your device. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture. Once granted, the app scans once and automatically tags everything it finds.
Open a tag, a category, or "Great Starting Point" from the home screen to start a review queue. From there:
Tap the "Custom" pill on a card to assign it to one or more of your categories, independent of your Keep/Toss decision.
Need to move faster on a big batch? Tap the checklist icon to switch to multi select, pick several screenshots at once, then Keep, Toss, or assign them all to one category in a single tap. Free plan caps a batch at 20; Plus removes the cap.
A screenshot can carry more than one tag at once, so tile counts don't have to add up to your total screenshot count.
Tossing something never deletes it right away. It moves to Trash and sits there until you empty it. Right after a toss, an "Undo last toss" popup appears for a couple seconds in case you didn't mean to. Toss or Keep Plus adds an optional backup step that zips everything to your Downloads folder immediately before Trash is emptied.
Kept screenshots get the same on demand option: open Kept and tap the backup icon to zip everything you've kept to your Downloads folder. Also a Toss or Keep Plus feature.
Categories are your own folders: receipts, recipes, whatever's useful. Completely separate from Keep/Toss. Free accounts can create up to 2; Plus removes that limit. Pin your most used categories in Settings to put them first in Quick Categories, the shortcuts shown in Advanced Filter and elsewhere in the app.
Plus also adds a backup icon on each category's screen that zips everything in it to your Downloads folder in one tap.
Toss or Keep finds screenshots automatically by filename and location. If you keep some images somewhere that doesn't match, add that folder in Settings under Organization. Everything inside counts, no filename match needed. Requires Toss or Keep Plus.

It moves into the app's Trash. The file isn't touched until you tap "Empty Trash Now," at which point it's permanently deleted from your device via Android's normal delete flow.
Yes, two ways: the "Undo last toss" popup appears for a couple seconds right after a toss, and anything still sitting in Trash can be restored from there at any time before you empty it.
